Burnham-On-Sea’s rescue hovercraft crew and a team of Coastguards were called to Weston on Friday evening (August 26th) amid concerns for several people struggling in the mud.

BARB’s Spirit Of Lelaina II hovercraft was called to Weston beach shortly after 8pm alongside Burnham and Weston Coastguards after a beach walker raised concerns for three people seen struggling through waist-deep mud.

Fortunately they got back to shore safely and safety advice was given to them to prevent it happening again.

Two other people were also spotted in deep mud and, with fading light and an incoming tide, Weston Coastguards tasked BARB’s hovercraft crew to fly out to them to check on their welfare. Both were found to be safe and the crews were stood down.
