New local campaign launched to encourage more people to care for the elderly

-

A home care company that offers services in Burnham-On-Sea has launched a fresh campaign to get more people caring for the elderly, as demand for its help continues to grow.

Following the success of a similar campaign in 2018, called ‘You Can Care’, Home Instead Senior Care is looking to recruit 30 caregivers to join its team.

Skills for Care, an independent charity with over 18 years’ experience, estimates that 8% of roles in adult social care are vacant, which gives an average of approximately 110,000 vacancies at any one time. These statistics suggest that the sector is struggling to keep up with demand as the population ages.

Mike Keig, owner of Home Instead Weston, which covers the Burnham-On-Sea area, said: “This campaign is important to us because it will show just how much of an impact every CAREGiver can make and what a rewarding career caregiving can be when you work for a company that, well, cares!”

“We also like to think of the hashtag as a show of support and solidarity with the hundreds of unpaid carers looking after loved ones in our local area. We’ll be using it to share information and resources too.”

Mike continued: “When we launched the ‘You Can Care’ campaign last year, we saw an upsurge in interest from people looking to join the care sector. As our population continues to age, we are continuing to build our team with kind and compassionate people who want to make a difference to the elderly in the local community.”

Shannen Cox, a caregiver for Home Instead commented on working for the care company:  “The clients I go to visit have been matched to me and we have built up a great relationship, it’s so nice to visit them daily and keep them company and make them smile, as a lot of the time we are the only person they see on a daily basis. It’s a rewarding job, not without challenges, but it’s all worthwhile when you see the positive impact you have made on the people you visit.”

Home Instead Senior Care is an award winning home care company, which provides services tailored to the needs of individual clients. The service is flexible to meet client needs and is available from as little as 1 hour to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
