Dozens of Highbridge residents took part in a Remembrance Day ceremony at the town’s War Memorial.

A parade of local youth groups took place along Church Street to St John’s Church, where a Remembrance service took place.

Afterwards, Mayor Cllr Andy Brewer and Sedgemoor District Chairman Cllr Peter Clayton joined other dignitaries and respresentatives from local groups in laying wreaths besides the War Memorial.

The Last Post was played by Highbridge trumpet player Francis Fear, followed by the traditional two minutes silence.

Among the groups laying wreaths were Highbridge Scouts, Guides, Brownies, Rainbows and Cubs, St John Ambulance Badgers, plus local Army and Sea Cadets.

Members of the town’s police force, the Royal British Legion and Highbridge Chamber of Trade also paid their respects.

Mayor Andy Brewer told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was great to see such a good turnout, especially from the young cadets and groups.”
