Burnham’s live seafront Webcam grabs global attention!

AMERICAN tourists Eileen and Janine Cleary may be thousands of miles from home but, thanks to Burnham’s recently-launched Webcam, they were able to wave to their relatives in the USA while standing on the town’s seafront this week.

New Yorkers Eileen and Janine, who are in town to visit close friends John and Betty Ridley (pictured), decided they’d use the Webcam to grab the attention of their family.

They asked their friends in the USA to log on Burnham-On-Sea.com’s popular Webcam while they waved flags to make sure they were seen.

Janine said: “It’s a superb idea to have a Webcam in such a prominent position on the seafront. We love it – we feel we can stay in touch even when we’re not actually here.”

The Webcam is proving to be a hit with many tourists wanting to wave to their friends and family back home.

The service is now the most-visited part of Burnham’s Web site and regularly attracts up to 10,000 visits a day.

Another tourist, Jack Cunningham, from Birmingham, said this week: “It’s better than sending a post card to the folks back home. I just called my mother on my mobile and asked her to log-on while I stood on the seafront. She spotted me straight away and we agreed it’s a far more personal greeting than sending a blank postcard.”

Our photo shows American tourists Eileen and Janine Cleary – with their long-time Burnham friends John and Betty Ridley – waving to their friends in the USA via Burnham’s Webcam.
