Burnham-On-Sea
artist issues photos of her stolen paintings
A
Burnham-On-Sea artist has appealed for the safe return of four
of her paintings which have been stolen during an exhibition at
the town's Community Centre.
Catherine
Metcalf, pictured right, told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday that
she is "extremely upset" by the theft of the four high-quality
Giclee prints, which were made with museum-quality materials and
printed with special light fast inks.
The
A3-sized paintings were stolen sometime during the last week of
the Somerset Arts Week.
On
Friday (Sept 29th) she issued Burnham-On-Sea.com with photographs
of the missing paintings, which included a nude and two separate
landscapes, as shown below.
She
said: "I am appealing to the local community to keep an eye
out for the prints and report any sightings to the police. I have
also taken the precaution of notifying all colleges in Somerset
of the theft to ensure no student is able to bolster their portfolio
with the works."
"Many
people have seen my work, including tutors from Weston Tech, SCAT,
and the heads of faculty at the West of England College of Art.
They have been alerted and will also be keeping a close lookout
for the prints."
If
anyone has seen or purchased the prints, they are asked to contact
police on 0845 4567000 (crime reference no G/2887/23092006/02)
or call Catherine on 0774 7847 217.
Catherine
studied Art in Kingston-upon-Thames and won the David Murray Award
for Landscape painting from the Royal Academy of Art. She has
been building up her work recently for a major solo exhibition.
