Highbridge
man completes training to become a Marine Commando
A
former King Alfred School student has successfully completed 32
weeks of the world's toughest physical training to become a Royal
Marines Commando.
Lee
Whitfield, a 26-year-old from Highbridge, passed out at the Commando
Training Centre in Lympstone, Devon with 904 Troop.
Lee
said: "The training was hard - I expected it to be, but the
instructors are there to help you, they really want to see you
succeed. Ultimately though, it's down to you."
"You
have to be willing to push your body to the limit, but more importantly
be prepared to push your mind beyond it."
The
distinctive hallmark of a Royal Marines Commando is the Green
Beret. It indicates to others that the wearer has undergone the
physically demanding training.
Mr
Whitfield will be joining 40 Commando Royal Marines who are based
in Taunton.
