Two teens in custody after night time attack on Burnham-On-Sea
man
Two
teenagers were taken into custody on Friday night after a man
was robbed in Burnham-On-Sea late on Thursday (January 25th).
Sgt
Julian Brandon of Burnham Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com that
two teens had been charged with robbery and are due to appear
in court in Bridgwater on Monday following the incident.
At
around 11.30pm on Thursday, a 49-year-old man was walking home
when he was followed by two men through the car park of the Lighthouse
pub on Highbridge Road (pictured above).
As
the victim walked past the bus shelter close to the pub the two
men attacked him and took his money.
In
a statement issued by police on Friday, Sgt Brandon said: "They
then ran down the path which runs from Highbridge Road to Broadhurst
Gardens. The victim suffered minor injuries in the attack. The
two offenders are described as white, medium build and aged between
19-23 years."
"One
man was wearing a grey hooded top, with the hood up and the other
man was wearing a white hooded top."
"Police
would particularly like to speak to two motorists who were driving
down Highbridge Road and slowed down when the victim ran into
the road."
Police
also want to speak to anyone who was in the pub and witnessed
the incident, especially one man who ran after the offenders.
Officers
are also interested in hearing from anyone who saw a group of
youths in Marine Drive, which is at the back of the Lighthouse
pub, between 11 and 11.30pm.
Anyone
with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555
111 or Burnham police via the force non-emergency number 0845
456 7000.
