Armed
police make second swoop on Highbridge property
These
were the scenes in Highbridge on Friday evening (March 14th) as
armed police made a second swoop on a property as they searched
for a suspect wanted in connection with a serious crime.
The
armed police unit was initially seen in the Newtown Road area
of Highbridge at around 6.30pm. A
few minutes later, they were at the Alexendra Court development
on Highbridge Quay where police sealed off a large area.
It
comes just 48 hours after a identical operation was launched on
Wednesday night (March 12th) - as reported here.
A
large number of police cars were in attendance at Friday's incident
- and police carrying batons and guns were spotted at the scene.
Police
spokesman Dan Mountain confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com after Wednesday's
incident that an armed response unit had been sent to Alexendra
Court where an unsuccessful arrest attempt had been made.
He
added on Monday morning (March 17th) that Friday's raid had also
proven unsuccessful and no-one was arrested.
