Council appeals for photos of Burnham Edwardian Cherub Fountain

-

Sedgemoor District Council and the Friends of Marine Cove Gardens have appealed to residents and visitors in Burnham-On-Sea for old photographs of the Edwardian Cherub Fountain which once stood in the centre of the pond at Marine Cove Gardens.

The gardens opened in 1927 and now Sedgemoor District Council is hoping to restore the gardens with the financial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

“Sedgemoor would like to restore the gardens to their former glory but without any close up photographic evidence, we are unable to detect detail from the original feature or see what the cherub is holding,” council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

She added: “The best photo that Sedgemoor District Council has of the cherub is not clear, so if anyone has any photographs of the feature, or good memories of what once stood on the site, please contact us.”

Readers who have an image can contact Marina Turner at Sedgemoor District Council on 01278 435512. You can also email photos via Burnham-On-Sea.com here. All photographs will be returned to owners.
