Burnham-On-Sea’s crime figures ‘fall five per cent in a year’

-

Crime figures in Burnham-On-Sea have fallen five per cent compared to the same period last year, according to new figures out this week.

Sgt Ian Kennett of Burnham Police said on Monday (July 6th): “Crime has fallen 5.3 per cent compared to the same time last year.”

“This is particularly good when local towns, including Bridgwater and Minehead, are seeing their crime figures increase.”

He added that Burnham’s crime detection figure – which refers to the proportion of crimes that are actually solved by police – has risen to 31.6 per cent. “This figure is also much better than many other areas,” Sgt Kennett told town councillors at a meeting on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, two quarterly meetings will be held by local police later this month. Burnham’s PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meeting will be held on July 23rd at 7.30pm in the Town Council Chambers in Jaycroft Road. Highbridge’s meeting will be held on July 21st at 7.30pm in Highbridge Community Hall.
