Burnham
lifeboat launched to help boat in difficulty in river estuary
Burnham-On-Sea's
lifeboat crew was called out to rescue a boat in difficulty on
Saturday evening (October 17th).
Two
people became stranded on a small boat in the River Parrett after
its engine failed.
The
boat, a Macwester 26ft sailing sloop, was at anchor half a mile
up the river.
The
passengers onboard, who were not hurt, called Coastguards at 6.15pm
and a crew from Burnham RNLI towed the boat into the town's sailing
club pontoons.
RNLI
lifeboat helmsman Nick Edrich told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "They
were properly equipped wearing lifejackets. This can happen at
any time, they were grateful for the assistance and we were happy
to help."
