Staff
and students at King Alfred School in Highbridge raised more than
£1,000 by holding a non-uniform and fancy dress day for
Red Nose Day on Friday (March 13th).
"Tthe
students and staff did the school proud, with everyone showing
a strong community spirit," Assistant Head Teacher Jean-Paul
Hoskins told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"Each
of the school's year groups chose one of several causes to help
with its fundraising - these were helping families afford school;
helping children who have to care for their families; and helping
children who do not live at home."
"The
fundraising and awareness didnt just stop there," he
added. "Throughout
the week, assemblies and tutorials have raised further awareness
and students have responded by 'Doing Something Funny for Money'.
This varied from a sponsored silence to being tied to a friend."
