Big crowds flock to sunny rescheduled Berrow Village Fayre

-

Big crowds turned out at Berrow’s rescheduled village fayre on Saturday (June 5th), a month after heavy winds led to the event’s postponement.

The event was officially opened by Richard Cadell from Children’s ITV with Sooty, who is pictured here.

It was a far cry from the first attempt to hold the event a month ago when high winds damaged marquees and tents on the village’s playing field on May 2nd, as reported here. The event was therefore rearranged – and this time the weather obliged.

Scores of stalls, traditional games, classic cars and other entertainment was held on on the Red Road Playing Fields, as pictured here.

Co-organiser Lynn Smith from Berrow Community Association told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Fortunately, the weather was must kinder to us this month and we had around 700 visitors, which was a great turnout.”

“The weather stayed fine and calm for much of the afternoon, much to everyone’s relief.”

The Fayre is organised by the Berrow Community Association’s Entertainment Team and all proceeds will go towards the Berrow Village Hall Project, which covers the refurbishment and extension of the much-loved hall.

The 2009 event raised over £5,500 and it is hoped a similar amount will have been raised this year.
