Nationwide ‘tin tabernacle’ tour duo bound for Burnham-On-Sea

-

A husband and wife musical duo who are embarking on a unique nationwide tour of corrugated iron churches, dubbed ‘tin tabernacles’, are to visit Burnham-On-Sea in January.

Trevor Moss and Hannah-Lou will be playing at Edithmead’s tin church on January 15th, even though the maximum audience size is just 15!

“The majority of these tin churches were designed to last only as long as the local supply of ore, or until a permanent chapel could be built, and the surviving few exist on borrowed time,” Trevor told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Those that have survived are mainly still in religious use, often evangelical and private missions continuing the tin tabernacles’ non-conformist tradition, although the vast majority stand derelict, perched precariously between structural condemnation and demolition.”

Supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, the pair will perform eleven concerts at the UK’s remaining tin tabernacles.

“These concerts will once see people gathering beneath the corrugated iron sheets, and hopefully inspire new usage for these historically notable gathering places, and help towards providing them with a future as colourful as their past.”

Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou released their eponymous debut album on 15th February 2010 on Loose Music. Their follow-up album is due for release in April/May 2011 on Heavenly Recordings. Tickets, costing £5 each, are available in advance here and more details about the group are available here.
