Car leaves carriageway on M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea

Drivers travelling on the M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea faced delays on Friday morning (September 16th) after an accident.

Fire crews from Burnham and Weston were sent to the northbound carriageway between junctions 21 and 22 at 8.17am when a car left the road.

A fire spokesman told "On arrival, the crews confirmed one vehicle had left the road and ended up in a hedge with one person trapped. Crews set to work to gain access to the vehicle using hydraulic equipment."

The person inside was successfully freed and was not seriously injured, added the spokesman.
