car parking charges set to rise this month
parking charges across Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge are set to
rise this month.

and street parking bays, including at Burnham's Pier Street Car
Park, pictured here.
The cost of car parking for four hours will rise by 10p, while
all-day costs will rise by 20p. Short-stay parking for one or
two hours will be unchanged.
Tom Dougall, Transport Policy Officer at cash-strapped Sedgemoor
District Council, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The charges have
been increased to account for the increase in VAT to 20%."
Town councillors in Burnham have expressed concerns that the
increases will put off visitors buying a day's parking.
