TV star Paul Merton returns to Berrow beach to continue filming

-

TV star Paul Merton will be returning to Berrow beach on Monday (August 8th) to complete his filming of a new TV show.

As Burnham-On-Sea.com reported last month, the star of BBC1’s Have I Got News For You visited the beach near Burnham-On-Sea to film a humorous, offbeat Channel 5 TV series about the British seaside.

As a result of a short period of illness, Paul will be returning – this time without the camels – to complete his film shoot which was unfortunately cut short last time when the star was struck with a virus.

Now fully recovered, Paul is looking forward to returning to the beach.

Following on the tracks of Tiger Aspect Productions towards the end of the month Lion Television Ltd, the company responsible for the likes of the Edwardian Farm and Victorian Pharmacy, are filming a science based documentary for National Geographic Satellite Channel.

The early morning shoot will not disrupt the public as it will take place prior to the beach being open for public access, but it is hoped the true beauty of the beach at sunrise will be eventually enjoyed by viewers across the world.

Tim Mander, the Council Property Manager who negotiates the agreements, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It is certainly good news that Berrow continues to be a popular location for film shoots and I am sure a lot of this is down to the help and co-operation given by the Council and staff, particularly Beach Safety Manager Graham Newing, his Beach Wardens and Lifeguards. The additional income generated into the council coffers and the national exposure is also very welcome.”
