Search continues along Burnham’s coastline for missing Dylan Cecil

-

Coastguards and hovercraft crews carried out further searches of the mudflats at low tide in Burnham-On-Sea this afternoon (Tuesday) as the search for the body of missing four year-old boy Dylan Cecil continued.

Volunteers searched Stert Island, the river estuaries around Burnham, plus nearby beaches in Brean and Berrow with no sight of the toddler, who went missing on Sunday evening after slipping from the town’s jetty.

Tuesday’s search involved a dozen volunteers from BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat) and Burnham Coastguard with further searches also planned by Burnham RNLI’s lifeboat crews.

Tris Newey, Coastguard Sector Manager, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The formal search was called off on Monday, but smaller searches are continuing in the recovery phase of this incident.”

Local telescope enthusiast Greg Dye-Hodge Beardsley was also asked to scour Stert Island for the Coastguard on Tuesday afternoon.

And local boat owner Tom Wedlake also went along the river estuary towards Bridgwater in his craft last night and again on Tuesday.
