Youngsters
from across region visit Burnham's marine rescue services

Fifty
youngsters from Somerset, Bristol, Gloucester and Wiltshire descended
on Burnham-On-Sea's lifeboat, hovercraft and Coastguard stations
on Saturday (October 6th) during a joint promotional event.
The
group, aged 3-13, saw Burnham's two inshore lifeboats launch from
the beach and perform several demonstrations.
They
also visited BARB's hovercrafts and the town's Coastguard station
and saw their life-saving equipment in action.
Many
of the children donned dry suits, helmets and lifejackets to be
photographed by parents during the 'Storm Force Day' event.
Tony
Deahl, Burnham Lifeboat Station's Education and Visits Officer,
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Everything went extremely well.
The children enjoyed learning about Burnham's sea rescue services
and observed some excellent demonstrations of the skills of our
crews."
"The
fact that there was not a cloud in the sky helped to ensure that
the event was a great success. I am indebted to all those volunteers
who made the experiences of these youngsters so enjoyable."
