£600 raised for RNLI during Burnham-On-Sea car wash

-

Hundreds of pounds was raised for the RNLI during a fundraising car wash at Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat station on Saturday (March 9th), the first of two such events.

70 vehicles were washed by the station’s volunteers over the course of four hours, raising a total of £600.

Each car was carefully soaped using professional car wash chemicals and cleaning materials, before being rinsed to achieve a perfect finish.

A second car wash is also planned for April 6th at the lifeboat station in Pier Street from 11am-3pm when payment will be by donation.

Burnham Lifeboat Operations Manager Ricky Holmes said: “We thank everybody for their continued support, and our hardworking volunteers for their diligence.”

The events are being held as part of the RNLI’s national fundraising event when schools, businesses and families will be holding fundraising events that follow an SOS theme, such as ‘Sizzle our Sausages’ and ‘See Our Stamina’. Burnham’s is called ‘Soap Our Saloons’.
