Shakespeare reading to be held in Burnham's Princess Theatre

Due to the wet weather tonight's (Monday 25th August) reading of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream will be held in the Princess Theatre instead.

The reading was due to take part in Marine Cove as part of this summer's Take Art 'What Change Burnham' project.

William Shakespeare’s most enchanting comedy is to be read through and filmed, to be then shown at a 'What Change' celebration day on 20th September in The Princess Theatre.

Organiser Kim Cook from the Princess Theatre Company explained: "Everyone is welcome to come along to either watch or read. You can take a role for the whole play or just read in for one act. It’s about just turning up and enjoying Shakespeare in an informal and friendly atmosphere, and Marine Cove would have been perfect for a Midsummer Night’s Dream but we are grateful that we can hold it at the Princess Theatre instead."

The event meets at 6pm to start reading at 7pm, and scripts will be provided. Kim added: "It’s suitable for the whole family. We have fairy wings for the children and solar lighting. Hopefully this will be the catalyst to encourage more groups to stage outdoor theatre in Burnham. Marine Cove is such a wonderful asset for Burnham and we are so fortunate to be able to use it for events."
