last! Long-awaited revamp of Highbridge play area gets go-ahead
have this week welcomed the news that a long-awaited £20,000
revamp of a play area in Highbridge is set to go ahead this year.
District Council has this week announced that the play area in
Talbot Close is to be given a makeover, with improvements to the
rusty 30-year-old play equipment.
Gray, Vice Chairman of Highbridge Residents Association, pictured,
who has campaigned
for improvements for several years, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"It's been a long time coming - much longer than we'd hoped
- but this is great news."

new lease of life. It's nice to see something in Highbridge getting
spokeswoman Claire Faun said the work has been approved after
a period of council consultation. "Local residents have been
consulted on what they would like to see in the Talbot Close park
and were asked to choose between a traditional play park, community
garden with vegetable planting or a community garden with shrubs
and informal play equipment installed."

safety surfacing and either a see-saw or roundabout will be installed
to supplement the swings which will remain in place."
existing wooden palisade fencing will also be replaced with traditional
play area style fencing which will be 1.2m bow-top galvanised
with two self-closing pedestrian gates. A new bench and litter
bin will also be supplied.
tender specification is being drawn up and, once a supplier has
been chosen, a timetable for the work will be agreed.
