Burnham-On-Sea area sees new December temperature record set

December daffodils have burst into bloom in parts of the Burnham-On-Sea area this week as the mild winter continues.

Spring flowers are already in full colour in Berrow, as pictured here over the weekend, due to the unseasonable conditions.

A record December temperature of 15.1C was recorded in Brent Knoll on Saturday. Then, just after midnight on Sunday, thanks to warm air streaming up from the southwest, the thermometer reached another new December high of 15.4C.

The average overnight temperature Saturday into Sunday was 13.9C and this month's average temperature in the Burnham area now stands at 11.5C, which is warmer than November 2015, and approaching October’s average of 11.8C.

The run-up to Christmas in the Burnham-On-Sea area is set to see stormy conditions, with high winds and heavy rain sweeping in - and temperatures remaining milder than normal.
