Results awaited in Burnham and Highbridge County Council elections

The votes are being counted after thousands of residents in the Burnham-On-Sea area were able to vote in the Somerset County Council elections on Thursday (May 4th).

Polling stations across the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge area reported a busy day of voting with the good weather appearing to help the turnout.

Counting of the votes is underway and Bridgwater and the results are due to be announced in the early hours of today.

The candidates standing in the local divisions of Somerset County Council within the Burnham-On-Sea area are listed below:

HOBBS, Brian Royston UK Independence Party (UKIP)
MURPHY, Mike Liberal Democrats
PRICE, Colin Michael Labour Party Candidate

CORKE, Lorna Irene Bromley UK Independence Party (UKIP)
PARKES, John David Liberal Democrats
SCANLON, Lucy Labour Party Candidate
WOODMAN, John Charles The Conservative Party Candidate*

FILMER, Bob The Conservative Party Candidate
GORE, Tony Liberal Democrats
MARSDEN, Janty Labour Party Candidate
WILLIS, David Robert UK Independence Party (UKIP)

CHADWICK, Chelsea Joan Labour Party Candidate
HARVEY, Phil Liberal Democrats
HEALEY, Mark The Conservative Party Candidate*

* = standing councillor

There will also be a separate Parish Council election in the village of Mark on the same day when the candidates will be: HICKS, Angela Margaret; HORN, Jan; and NOURSE, Peter.
