Burnham-On-Sea care home celebrates 100th birthdays of three special residents

-

A Burnham-On-Sea care home has this week celebrated the 100th birthdays of three very special residents.

The Towans care home in Burnham’s Berrow Road marked the birthdays of centenarians Mary Hooper, whose special day was on Thursday (November 28th), and also Elsie Conelley and Flo Drew whose 100th birthdays were earlier this year.

The Towans held a special afternoon of celebrations and entertainment for the trio alongside visiting family and friends.

Mary was born in Taunton on November 28th, 1919 and used to be a teacher. A keen traveller, she used to be a player of hockey, tennis and lacross. She told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the sceret to being 100 is hard work and keeping active!

Elsie was born on August 14th, 1919 and was born in Highbridge. She used to be a TS driver and also enjoyed house sitting. Elsie says her secret to being a grand age is “being happy with friends.”

Flo, born in Bawrdrip on May 26th, 1919, used to be a ladies maid and enjoyed dressmaking and making wedding dresses.

Mary celebrated her birthday with a family party at the Oaktree with songs and drama from Flashback Theatre plus cake and photos with The Queen (cut-out!).
