Burnham-On-Sea firefighters tackle ‘deliberate’ 1.30am blaze

-

Burnham-On-Sea firefighters were called to extinguish a deliberate blaze in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 5th).

One Burnham fire engine was sent to a block of flats next to the Lighthouse pub in Highbridge Road at 1.30am after a pile of furniture and storage building was set alight.

The fire crew used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze, which destroyed the furniture and damaged the roof and side of the small building.

One nearby resident told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The furniture had been there for probably a couple of weeks, which raises the question about how and when this stuff is picked up by the council.”

The charred remains of the furniture were still visible on Saturday morning, as pictured here
