Hundreds head to Burnham-On-Sea fire station’s family open day

-

Hundreds of people headed to Burnham-On-Sea Fire Station on Saturday (July 22nd) when it held a popular family open day.

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service opened its doors to the public in Marine Drive for the second annual open day.

Visitors were able to meet Burnham’s firefighters and also see some of their life-saving equiment in action.

A road traffic collision demonstration was one of the highlights when the crews cut the roof of a car to free a ‘casualty’ inside, as below.

There was also a chance to see rescue tenders, fire appliances and special units up close and try on fire-fighting outfits.

“It was a busy, successful day – and we thank everyone who came along and supported us,” station officer Ian Hazleton told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
