Burnham doctors surgery receives boost from Medical Equipment Fund

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s medical surgery has this week been handed a ‘life-changing’ piece of equipment by a charity in the town.

Burnham Community Medical Equipment Fund’s Chairman, Tom Ashton, handed the surgery’s Dr Mike Wolfman a much-needed syringe driver worth £1,000 on Thursday (September 18th).

Dr Wolfman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Syringe driver kits enable us to give medication to patients who can no longer swallow. They often dramatically reduce patients’ pain and nausea and can be life-changing, even extending their lives by weeks or months.”

“As we have limited funding available for specialist items like this, we are incredibly grateful to the Burnham Community Medical Equipment Fund for this donation.”

Mr Ashton added: “When we heard the surgery urgently needed this equipment, we were happy to help. We are always delighted to help people in our community where possible.”

The Burnham Community Medical Equipment Fund is a 22 year-old organisation that has provided more than £200,000 of medical equipment to people throughout the Burnham area since it was set up in 1986. Much of its funds come from legacies and gifts.
