Sedgemoor District Council imposes penalty points on taxi driver

-

Sedgemoor District Council’s Licensing Panel has this week imposed a total of seven penalty points on a local Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence for two breaches of licence conditions.

One breach relates to a failure to notify the council of a speeding conviction within the seven days permitted and the second for failing to notify the council of a change of address.

At the hearing, Chair of the Licensing & General Purposes Committee Cllr Jeff Savage, said: “The Council has a legal duty to ensure public safety and confidence in the taxi licensing regime and therefore takes such omissions very seriously.”

Points can be imposed by the council on a Taxi or Private Hire Driver’s Licence for breaches of licence conditions. Once imposed, they remain valid for 12 months from the date of imposition.
