Mediterranean garden display wins award for Sanders Garden World

-

Brent Knoll’s Sanders Garden World was celebrating this week after winning a top prize for its show garden at Taunton Flower Show.

The garden centre won a gold award for its display – named ‘A Lost Piece of the Mediterranean’ – at the event in Vivary Park on Friday (August 5th).

Peter Burks, General Manager of the garden centre, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are delighted to have been awarded the gold medal for our entry in the Designer Gardens Class at this year’s Taunton Flower Show.”

“It is such a prestigious event in the gardening calendar for our area. We wanted to create a garden that embodied the old Mediterranean and was very natural and rustic, perhaps something that would be found off the beaten track.”

“The garden cost us less than £100 to build and the judges were particularly impressed with the papier mâché wall that was built around the space. The show garden included olive trees, bougainvillea, vines, lavender and under planting.”

“People are becoming more interested in growing Mediterranean plants in their own gardens and we wanted to show what can be achieved on a budget.”
