A man was air-lifted to hospital with “life-threatening injuries” following a serious crash near Burnham-On-Sea on Friday (June 20th).
Burnham police were called to the A38 after a pedestrian was struck by a passing car, leaving the busy route shut for two and a half hours.
Police spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The A38 was shut at 12.50pm following a collision involving a Renault car and a male pedestrian, who is thought to be in his 60s.”
“The man was air-lifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with life-threatening chest and leg injuries.”
The road was closed until 3.25pm to allow the emergency services to remove oil and debris from the road. Diversions were set up around the area, next to Highbridge’s junction 23 of the M5.
