Burnham-On-Sea’s Avenue Tennis Club is to hold an Open Day on Sunday 14th July when visitors can find out more about playing in the town.
The event will be held before the Men’s Wimbledon Final from 12pm-2pm and all will be welcome to head onto the courts with the coaches to try some shots and play games.
Visitors will be able to have a bash against the ball machine or just sit back, relax and watch the kids have some fun on the tennis courts. All equipment will be provided.
The Avenue Tennis Club have 4 mens and 2 ladies team which compete in the North Somerset Tennis League and are always looking for new players to strengthen the teams and increase the number of players playing at the club.
The Avenue ladies team (pictured) of Dawn French, Helen Stait, Nancy Engerran and Emma Westcott managed a win of 8-2 over Cheddar Ladies at the weekend.
The tennis club has a month’s free membership offer available for anyone who wants to give tennis a go and wants to get an insight into the club before joining.
Qualified coaches provide coaching throughout the week for all ages and abilities. Membership of the club allows you access to play on 1 of the 8 floodlit courts, together with access to a fantastic clubhouse with a well stocked bar, wi-fi and superb changing facilities for all.
The club has organised social and competitive tennis throughout the week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, together with a variety of subsidised coaching sessions for juniors and adults and Vinny Minis on a Friday evening.
Ian’s Sunday Service is also a fun, social, mixed doubles competition which starts at 10 and will finishes around 12pm on the second Sunday of every month, with the next one on 14th July. Details of all the benefits of joining can be found on the website.
