Hundreds of youngsters were in good voice during a unique singing contest held in Burnham-On-Sea on Wednesday (March 13th) as part of the Highbridge Festival of The Arts.

For the first time in the festival’s 66 year history, there were so many that singers in the school choirs category that a decision was taken to hold the event in St Andrew’s Church.

The standard of singing impressed the huge audience and adjudicators, who awarded first place to Castle Batch School from Worle. Second place went to Highbridge’s Churchfield Voices Choir and third was Burnham’s St Andrew’s School.

St Andrew’s Church vicar Rev’d Graham Witts told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were delighted to host this unique competition as part of the festival – it was a superb morning.”
