-

A candlelight memorial is be held on Christmas Eve in memory of Dean Tate, the Highbridge man who went missing earlier this year and whose body was later found on Stert Island.

The 40-year old was reported missing on Saturday February 24th after failing to return home after a night out with his brother Darren in Burnham-On-Sea.

Following an extensive two-month search by Burnham’s emergency services, his body was discovered on Saturday April 21st by a fisherman who stopped on Stert Island.

A coroner later concluded at an inquest that Mr Tate died after falling into the River Brue.

On the Facebook tribute page called “Remembering Dean Tate”, a post has called upon friends and family of Dean to light a candle in memory of him on December 24th.

The post reads: “Our first Christmas without Dean is approaching and I thought what better way to remember him that with a candle lighting on Christmas Eve, the 10 month anniversary since his passing.”

“Please join us in remembering our wonderful and very loved father, fiancé, son and friend. Please feel free to share photos of your candles.”

His partner Sarah Reeves previously shared a touching tribute following the discovery of his body: “He was so amazing and such an amazing father and friend and after everything he went through in life and still came out as amazing as he did, he was one special man.”
