Burnham film screening raises over £600 for Highbridge Arts Festival

Hundreds of pounds was raised for Highbridge Festival Of The Arts when a fundraising matinee screening of a popular film was held at Burnham’s Ritz Cinema on Monday (January 26th).

A near-capacity audience flocked to see Philomena, raising over £600 for the long-running festival.

Jenny Golding, one of the organisers, said: “The film was shown at the Ritz by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Scott to a near capacity audience.”

“Thank you to the Festival helpers and all those who attended. The total raised towards the next Highbridge Festival of the Arts is £621.10”

Philomena is a 2013 drama film directed by Stephen Frears, based on the book The Lost Child of Philomena Lee by journalist Martin Sixsmith. Starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, it tells the true story of Philomena Lee’s 50-year-long search for her forcibly adopted son.
