Burnham-On-Sea fire crews called to ‘suspicious’ blaze in Puriton

-

Burnham-On-Sea firefighters were called to a tackle a ‘suspicious’ blaze at a home in Puriton early this morning (Monday).

Three fire appliances from Bridgwater and Burnham-On-Sea were sent to Canns Lane, Puriton at just after 3.30am where the porch of a property was on fire, having been possibly set alight deliberately.

“On arrival the first crew confirmed the porch of the detached property was well alight and got to work using one safety jet, one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus sets,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Once the porch fire was extinguished, the breathing apparatus was increased to four and a positive pressure ventilation fan was also used to clear the heavily smoke-logged property measuring 30m by 8m.”

Crews confirmed there were no persons in the property at the time and also found there had been no internal fire spread.

“It is believed this fire could have been started deliberately and the police were also on scene,” added the spokesman.
