Football-mad Burnham-On-Sea youngsters achieve their goals

-

Two young footballers from Burnham-On-Sea have reached their goal of securing places at Somerset FA’s Centre of Excellence.

Megan Robinson, 8, and Karis Durrant, 9, were two of just seven girls chosen at the trials involving more than 50 hopefuls from across the whole of the county.

The pair attended a three-week assessment and are now competing among some of the most talented female footballers at their age group.

Megan, who attends Brent Knoll Primary, and Karis, from Burnham’s St Andrew’s, train twice a week and travel to matches every weekend.

Megan’s father, Stuart, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re proud of them both. They are playing against teams from other centres of excellence, such as Wolverhampton Wanderers, MK Dons and Arsenal. This weekend they’re playing against Plymouth Argyle.”

Both girls started playing football for Burnham United at the age of just four.
