Fearless Burnham Guides leap from plane at 15,000ft to boost funds

-

Two fearless Guides from Burnham-On-Sea have completed a parachute jump from a plane at 15,000ft to raise funds for a unique trip to Mexico.

Beth Lavis and Vicky Simmons undertook the tandem jump at Dunkeswell Airfield, near Honiton in Devon, and have raised over £1,000 for their Girlguiding residential trip to Mexico next year.

Beth Lavis, a Young Leader with the 1st Berrow Guides, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was amazing, I
would love to do it again!”

Victoria Simmons, Brown Owl for the 1st Berrow Brownies, added: “It was the strangest feeling knowing I was up so high. The view was spectacular and we had a perfect day for it!”

“We would like to thank everyone who sponsored us as we have reached our target of £1,000! Many local businesses were very generous and we are really grateful for their support.”

The duo will be staying at Our Cabana, one of the four world guiding centres where they will meet up with Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from all over the world. They will be taking part in a community service project during the visit which will directly benefit the local people.
