King Alfred School’s rock band Canvas Moon wins Sedgemoor Battle of the Bands

-

King Alfred School Academy’s rock band Canvas Moon has won Sedgemoor’s Battle of the Bands 2019 competition.

Up-and-coming young talent from King Alfred, Haygrove, Chilton Trinity and Robert Blake schools took part in the keenly-contested contest.

The local band, all from the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge area, includes drummer Joshua Ford of year 7, Guitarist Lomond Bradley of year 8, Base guitarist and singer Keir Laurie of year 10, and Lead Singer/guitarist Isaac Thomas of year 10.

The Empty Frets were supposed to represent the band but they disbanded so Canvas Moon went on to represent the school and they invited Lomond Bradley, formerly of Empty Frets, to join them two days before the event and he only learnt the Nirvana track that afternoon!

Canvas Moon the Key Stage 4 category and was named the overall winner. They won a 3 track recording session at Athena recording studio.

Katie Newell of YMCA Dulverton Group, who led the evening, praised all the young musicians, judges, staff and supporters for taking part.
