Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat station appeals for new volunteers

-

Burnham-On-Sea RNLI Lifeboat Station has this week issued an appeal for new volunteers to come forward to help launch its lifeboats.

The station is seeking people who can work as part of a team.

No experience of lifeboat operations is necessary since training will be provided.

Long term prospects could lead to tractor driving, or even lifeboat crew status, although this is dependent on operational requirements and the level of commitment. Equally, men or women are suitable, and ideally should be of average physical fitness.

Lifeboat Operations Manager Ricky Holmes told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Volunteering with the RNLI can lead to lifelong friendships and also help increase employment prospects.”

“The ideal volunteer should live or work close enough to the Burnham lifeboat station to be able to attend easily in the event of a callout.”

“Prospective volunteers should attend the lifeboat station during one of our regular Wednesday evening training sessions, and make themselves known.”
