Two people were taken to hospital after a crash on the M5 northbound near Burnham-On-Sea on Friday (April 13th).

The multi-vehicle crash happened between junction 22 for Burnham-On-Sea and junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare on the M5 at 3pm.

South Western Ambulance Service said several ambulance crews were sent to the scene.

“Two patients were taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary for treatment and those walking wounded with minor injuries were taken onto Southmead Hospital to be checked over,” said a spokesman. “Their injuries include shock and neck pain.”

Long queues of traffic built up along the motorway, back to junction 24 at Bridgwater, as three lanes were temporarily closed while emergency services were at the scene. Traffic returned to normal mid-evening.
