Over £1,600 was raised for Burnham-On-Sea’s War Memorial Hospital during a fundraising garden party on Sunday (June 30th).

The third annual event, organised by The Friends of Burnham-On-Sea War Memorial Hospital, was held in the hospital grounds and attracted crowds of supporters.

“The Deputy Mayor, Cllr Nick Tolley, officially opened our Garden Party and spoke of how important the hospital is to our local community,” Ceri Joyce, Vice Chairman of The Friends, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“It was a fun-packed day, with children’s games, face painting, and hair braiding. Drummers were in attendance on the front lawn, which were very entertaining.”

“Cream Teas were served all afternoon, and there were delicious cakes on sale. We also had our infamous bottle stall, plus stalls with a tombola, quality hand-crafted goods, quality bric-a-brac, books, jigsaws and jewellery.”

Ceri extended her thanks to the wonderful volunteers who helped make the day so successful and to all the locals who attended to support the event after the whole afternoon raised a huge £1,630.

The next time you can meet ‘The Friends’ will be at their coffee mornings at The Methodist Church in College Street on July 20th and August 17th followed by them holding a stall on Monday 26th August at Burnham’s traditional Manor Gardens Fete. Funds raised go towards further improving the facilities at the Love Lane hospital in Burnham-On-Sea.
