National Grid has announced a series of events to give people in the Burnham-On-Sea area more information about controversial plans for a huge power line through Somerset.
The energy giant will hold drop-in events during June and July to seek more views about its proposals for a 400,000 volt, 37-mile line linking a new power station at Hinkley Point C with a sub-station at Avonmouth.
In February, the Infrastructure Planning Commission, which will decide on National Grid’s final plans, also told the company that substantially more work is needed to increase people’s understanding of the proposals.
National Grid’s Major Projects Manager David Mercer told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “When we analysed the feedback it was clear that people wanted more information about alternatives to overhead power lines and pylons. To respond to these concerns we have put together a lot more information and arranged a series of events where residents can find out more and give us their views.”
The public drop-in events will be held in our area at the following times and venues:
June 12, 10am-4pm: Mark Village Hall, Vole Road, Mark
June 16, 2-8pm: Biddisham Village Hall, A38, Biddisham
June 21, 2-8pm: Mark Village Hall, Vole Road, Mark
June 23, 2-8pm: Biddisham Village Hall, A38, Biddisham
July 2, 2-8pm: Woolavington Village Hall, Woolavington
