Burnham-On-Sea police have appealed for witnesses to come forward following an early morning crash on the town’s seafront which left this traffic light flattened.

Officers were called to the South Esplanade at around 1am today (Thursday, June 7th) following the incident on the pedestrian crossing besides the Bay View Cafe.

Spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police were called to an accident near Pier Street shortly before 1am where a car was in collision with a traffic light.”

“The car had driven away or was taken away from the scene and we are interested to hear from anyone who saw the incident. They should contact us on the non-emergency police number 101.”

The crossing has been temporarily taken out of action by Somerset County Council while the repairs are made.
