Disappointment as popular street art in Burnham-On-Sea is removed

-

The organisers of a street art festival in Burnham-On-Sea have expressed their disappointment at having to remove a colourful display in the town centre this week.

A seaside scene by artist SPZERO appeared on the wall of TA8s bar in Pier Street during last month’s inaugural Spray Jam festival. The unique artwork was removed by the organisers on Wednesday.

Becky Hewlitt, organiser of the festival, said: “We are very sad that we are having to paint over the artwork as it has been enjoyed by so many. We painted the site in good faith with the full permission of the tenant.”

“Many thanks to the artist SPZERO who gave up his time and donated his enormous talents to support the RNLI and the town by encompassing both in our original design which brought a smile to the faces of locals and visitors alike.”

“We hope that people still take the time to enjoy the rest of the art trail, a guide to which is available in the tourist information office.”
