Over a dozen letters of objection have been sent to Somerset County Council opposing the controversial proposals to convert Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront lawns into an official Village Green.
The deadline for feedback ended this week following a period of public consultation.
And Somerset County Council spokeswoman Jan Hookings told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Sixteen letters of objection were received by the deadline. These have now been sent to the applicant for comment and a decision will then follow in due course.”
Both the district and town councils have expressed their concerns about the proposals, which residents argue would protect the lawns from development for future generations.
In July, Sedgemoor District Council decided not to award a 25-year lease to Paul Chatwin, the entrepreneur who wanted to create a new mini golf course on the seafront, as reported here.
