Berrow beach to be turned into Egyptian desert for TV show

-

Berrow Beach will be turned into a scene from the ancient Egyptian desert next week when film production company Atlantic Productions recreates a chariot scene from the Battle of Kadesh.

The programme for National Geographic TV is about Egyptian Pharaoh, Ramisses the Great, and the beach will be the scene of a chariot race between two wooden single horse chariots on Thursday (June 26th).

Claire Faun, district council spokeswoman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The aim of the programme is to determine which design had better style and speed on a one-to-one race off.”

“Once again, Sedgemoor District Council’s help and co-operation with film production companies has borne fruition with Atlantic Productions choosing to use this stunning beach location with the impressive backdrop of dunes.”

Local residents and beach users should note that the quieter southern end of the beach will be cordoned off during the filming.
