The first in a series of summer motorbike nights was held in Burnham-On-Sea on Tuesday night (May 7th).

Over 100 bikers gathered at the top end of Burnham’s Morrisons car park to raise money for local good causes.

Burnham’s Mayor, Cllr Ken Smout, and new Town Crier, Alistair Murray, were on hand to welcome the bikers, who are gathering in the town every Tuesday night over the summer.

Members of Burnham Town Team were also among the marshalls helping to collect donations from the public and bikers.

One of the organisers, Dennis Perks, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were pleased with the turnout for our first event – it was a good evening and we look forward to welcoming more riders along next week.”

The bikers arrive from around 6pm each Tuesday and each biker makes a donation of £1, with the proceeds going to local charities plus the memorial fund set up in memory of Dylan Cecil, the four year-old boy who died after falling from the town’s jetty last year. The bike nights will be held each Tuesday until Sunday September 1st. Members of the public are encouraged to come along.
