Coach loses wheels and causes long tailbacks on M5 near Burnham

Two wheels came off a coach as it drove along the M5 near Burnham-On-Sea, causing damage to the road and long tailbacks for motorists on Monday afternoon (November 11th).

The southbound carriageway between Weston and Burnham-On-Sea was partly blocked following the incident at about 12.30pm.

Motorists faced delays of over an hour while emergency repairs were undertaken to the roadway.

A spokesman for Highways Agency told Burnham-On-Sea.com that 200m of the road surface had been damaged in the incident, forcing the closure of two lanes.

Police said that tailbacks of traffic stretched back as far as Clevedon at one point during the afternoon. No-one was hurt in the incident.
