Burnham-On-Sea darts player wins £200,000 Premier League title

-

Burnham-On-Sea darts player Gary Anderson has won the Premier League title to go with his world championship.

The 44-year-old – who beat Phil Taylor five months ago in the world final – ruthlessly dispatched of Michael van Gerwen 11-7 in the playoff final at the O2 Arena in London on Thursday night.

In a thrilling climax to the televised 16-week competition, Gary lifted the second biggest prize in darts for the second time and received a cheque for £200,000.

Anderson’s 50% success rate on the doubles was the crucial factor behind this victory, particularly as world no.1 Van Gerwen wasted 15 of his 22 doubles attempts.

Earlier this year, Burnham held a Civic Ceremony for Gary Anderson when he won the world championship for the first time, as we reported here.
